Camarines Sur National High School (CSNHS) student Chan Laurence Agor of Grade 10-Sceptrum emerged as champion in the Jerald Jude Spelling Bee held at the University of Nueva Caceres on Saturday, Aug. 1.
Agor, coached by English teacher Amy Garcia, bested contestants from various schools in the competition.
Also representing CSNHS were Carl Justin Francisco of Grade 8-Jupiter, who advanced to the semifinals under the guidance of his coach and English teacher, Jessica Abuque, and Francine Valerie Ebuenga of Grade 7-Barcelona, who qualified for the second round under the mentorship of her coach and English teacher, Crisrene Fernandez.
The Jerald Jude Spelling Bee PH, an organization accredited by the Scripps National Spelling Bee in the United States, promotes literacy, academic excellence, and confidence among young learners through spelling competitions.
Founded by Jerald Jude Chavez Campana, who placed 23rd in the 2023 Scripps National Spelling Bee, the organization aims to help Filipino students strengthen their vocabulary, communication skills, and love for learning while fostering perseverance and self-confidence through academic competition.
